Member Workshops and Classes

  • Karen Knutson will be the speaker/demonstrator for the Lake Country Pastel Society meeting on March 9th at 7:00 p.m. The meeting is held at the Perpich Center for Arts Education, 6125 Olson Memorial Highway. Golden Valley, MN. Karen’s demo will emphasize good design, and how she thinks abstractly. Karen will be teaching an exciting abstract mixed media workshop at Madeline Island in August 23 – 27th.   • Carol Spohn and John Salminen will be part of four artists conducting a demonstration at the Hopkins Center for the Arts on Friday evening, March 5 from 4-8pm. The event is free and open to all.   • Pat Choffrut is the site guide for a week-long painting workshop in Provence, France, from Sept 4-12, 2010. Tom Francesconi, celebrated American watercolor artist, signature member of Transparent Watercolor and National Watercolor Societies, will be leading the workshop.   • Karen Knutson won an award of excellence for her painting, Time Machine, at the Elk River Area Alliance of the Arts Exhibition. She also has paintings featured in two new books; The Artistic Touch 3, by Chris Unwin and Watercolor Without Boundaries, by Karlyn Holman. These books will be released in March, 2010.

  • The Pennsylvania Watercolor Society (PWS) is hosting their 31st International Juried Exhibition to be held from October 1 through November 14, 2010, in the Crary Art Gallery in Warren, PA. The opening Reception will be held on Saturday, October 2, 2010, from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m., with the Awards Ceremony taking place at 3:00 p.m. Over $5000 in Cash Awards plus Merchandise Awards will be available to an inspiring group of fine artists from across our nation and around the world.   • The Southern Colorado Watercolor Society is hosting their Aquarius National Watercolor Exhibition 31st International Juried Exhibition to be held in Pueblo, Colorado from August 14 - October 23, 2010.
