Selection Juror: Leslie Wilson, Walnut Creek, CA

Leslie has focused on watercolor painting for more than 25 years, capturing the moment in vibrant light and color, both en plein air and in the studio. She graduated from the University of Maryland with a BA in Secondary Art Education and currently teaches watercolor in Lafayette and Walnut Creek, California. She is a signature member of the California Watercolor Association and the San Diego Watercolor Society.

Awards Juror: John Salminen, Duluth, MN

John has won more than 230 awards in national and international exhibitions, including the AWS Gold Medal two times, the Silver Star First Place Award in the National Watercolor Society Exhibition two times, the Gold and Silver Medal in Allied Artists of America and the Transparent Watercolor Society of America first place award three times. He has received the Shanghai Zhoujiajiao International Biennial Award, the Thailand Ministry of Culture and the Arts Award, the Pakistan Watercolor Society Lifetime Achievement award and most recently the Daniel Smith Award in the Shenzhen Biennale. In addition, he is the first American ever to be awarded membership in the Australian Watercolour Institute.

Saturday, March 24 Selected paintings posted on MNWS website
Saturday, April 7, 10 am – 1 pm Drop off for selected paintings
Friday, April 13, 6 pm – 8 pm Awards announced by John Salminen at 7:00.
Friday, May 11 Exhibition closes at end of day
Saturday, May 12, 10 am – 1 pm Pick up paintings

This juried show is open to all MNWS members who have paid their dues through April 30, 2018. Each member may enter up to two paintings. The entry fee is $30 for the first painting and $5 for the second entry. Entry fees are not refundable. Click here to learn more about artist eligibility and submission requirements.

Fine Print: All exhibited work must be for sale, no exceptions. 40% of the net retail-selling price will be retained by the Minnetonka Center for the Arts if the artist is a member or 50% if a non-member. Percentages do not include sales tax, which will be collected by the Art Center.

Registration Information

1. Click here to complete and submit entry form.

2. To pay for your entries, use PayPal when you submit your entry form or mail a check to Mary Deziel, 13791 Princeton Court, Savage, MN 55378.

3. Send your images (No larger than 1MB) to Mary Deziel via email: m.deziel@mchsi.com.

4. Artists of accepted works will be required to sign an agreement with Minnetonka Center for the Arts.

5. Please note that paintings should be matted with white, off-white and light, neutral mats only. No color mats.

6. Click here to view and print label that should be taped to the top left corner of your framed painting.
