Definition of “sighting”:
- The act of catching sight of something, especially something unusual or searched for
- An occasion when you see something or someone, especially when they are rare or trying to hide
The perfect place to discover “Spring Sightings” after the winter hibernation will be at the MNWS Spring Juried Exhibition at the Arboretum March 21st through May 2nd!
This juried show is open to all MNWS members who have paid their dues through April 30, 2019. If you are not currently a member of the society, you can join when you submit your painting(s). Each member may enter up to two paintings. The entry fee is $30 for the first painting and $5 for the second entry. Entry fees are not refundable. If a member’s painting is selected for the show, he or she will receive a complementary pass for the Arboretum while the exhibit is up. Please note that the Arboretum retains 50% sales commission when setting the price for your painting.

3. To pay for your entries, use PayPal when you submit your entry form or mail a check to Mary Deziel, 13791 Princeton Court, Savage, MN 55378.
4. Send your images to Mary Deziel via email: firstname.lastname@example.org.
5. Artists of accepted works will be required to sign an agreement with the Arboretum.
6. Please note that paintings should be matted with white, off-white and light, neutral mats only. No color mats.
7. Click here to view and print label that should be taped to the top left corner of your framed painting.

Sunday, January 06, 2019 – Submission Period Opens
Friday, February 22, 2019 – Submission Period Closes
Sunday, March 3, 2019 – Post accepted paintings on MNWS website
Monday, March 18, 2019 – Drop off at gallery, 11 a.m. – 2 p.m.
Tuesday, March 19, 2019 – Hang show, 9 a.m. – 1 p.m.
Thursday, March 21, 2019 – Opening Reception 6 p.m. – 8 p.m., with awards presentation at 7 p.m.
Wednesday, May 01, 2019 – Exhibition ends
Thursday, May 02, 2019 – Pick up paintings at gallery, 3 p.m. – 6 p.m.
The juror for the show is David Feinberg, an Associate Professor of Drawing and Painting at the University of Minnesota, Minneapolis, MN. He is a frequent juror for art exhibits in the Twin Cities metro area. As an educator, David’s award presentations are informative and motivational for all artists present, regardless if an artist’s painting was selected. Members and guests are encouraged to attend the opening reception on Thursday, March 21st from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. David will present the awards at 7 p.m. Members and guests can attend the reception and/or see the show without paying any Arboretum admittance or parking fees.
