Members’ Day

There’s still time to register for MNWS Members’ Day on Saturday, June 22, at Fish Lake Regional Park in Maple Grove. Participants will enjoy demos by three artists representing an exciting range of painting styles; Lisa Fertig, Catherine Hearding and Dan Wiemer.

Starting at 9:30am in the pavilion, Lisa Fertig will take us on a spontaneous adventure in color, texture and composition as she demonstrates her approach to abstracts. At 11:00am, Catherine Hearding will show us how color and light intertwine to create compelling shapes in her realistic paintings. After a break for box lunches from The Lookout grill, we’ll move outside for a plein air demo by Dan Wiemer, whose confident outdoor painting style is punctuated with bold calligraphic flourishes. Dan’s demo will be followed by painting time on the grounds and an informal critique back at the pavilion for those who wish to stay.

Social Networking for MNWS

We have been looking at better ways to share info and help Society members to connect with each other, so we have launched a number of social networking channels. Participation is voluntary, of course, but we think you might enjoy taking part. We'll be talking more about this as time goes on, so you'll get an opportunity to ask questions, and get help if necessary. Here are the channels that are currently in place:

• MNWS LinkedIn group. LinkedIn is a networking Website used by people to connect with others in the same industry. It works well for artists, too. You’ll need to join LinkedIn at www.linkedin.com and then do a search for Minnesota Watercolor Society group.

• Are you a Facebook user? Then search for Minnesota Watercolor Society Fan Page once you are logged in, and join the group to view and post messages, pictures, videos and more.

• MNWS is on Twitter. Follow our Tweets (short announcements, news, and other Society related info) at www.twitter.com/MNWatercolor

• MNWS YouTube channel for videos. www.youtube.com/user/MNWatercolorSociety See video from recent Society events, and functions. Subscribe to the channel to be notified of the latest videos and upload your own vids of Society events, short painting demos, personal artist bios, etc.

• MNWS Flickr account for photos.  www.flickr.com/photos/mnws Browse photos from Society happenings. Got MNWS related photos you want to share? Sign up at www.flickr.com and join the MNWS group.

• Google+ is new, easy to use, and not as popular as Facebook (yet!). Sign up, search for Minnesota Watercolor Society and put us in your circles   https://plus.google.com
