2021 People’s Choice Award “Under the Citadel” – Alya Jawaid

Twin Cities based artist, Carl Oltvedt , will judge the paintings to be accepted into the MNWS 2021 Spring Inclinations Exhibition.

Carl Oltvedt works full-time as an artist in a variety of painting and drawing media.  He relocated to the Twin Cities following his retirement from Minnesota State University Moorhead in May of 2015, where he was a Professor in the School of Visual Arts for thirty-two years.  Currently, he maintains a studio at the California Building in N.E. Minneapolis.  He has exhibited his work at Groveland Gallery in Minneapolis since 1978.  His paintings and drawings are included in numerous public, corporate, and private collections, including the Minneapolis Institute of Art, the Minnesota Museum of American Art, the North Dakota Museum of Art, the Plains Art Museum and the Rourke Art Museum.  He has completed commissions for corporations and private collectors including Cargill Corporation and Securian Financial.  He was a recipient of Minnesota State Arts Board Artist Initiative Grants in 2014 and 1991, and a Lake Region Arts Council/McKnight Artist Fellowship in 2002.

This juried show is open to all MNWS members who have paid their dues through May 31, 2021. If you are not currently a member of the society, you can join when you submit your painting(s). Each member may enter up to two paintings. The entry fee is $30 for the first painting and $5 for the second entry. Entry fees are not refundable. Complete exhibition rules and entry information:

Friday, February 5 – Submission Period Closes at midnight (No late entries allowed)

Monday, March 1 – Accepted works will be posted on the MNWS website

Monday, March 15– 9 am- 2pm Drop off work at Minnesota Landscape Arboretum (No late drop offs)

Tuesday, March 16 10 am – Hang show at Minnesota Landscape Arboretum

Thursday, March 18 – 6pm – 8:30 – Opening of show

Friday, April 16th – Show closes

Saturday, April 17th 11 am – 2pm – pick up paintings from Arboretum (No late pick -ups)
